Wilderness Summer Programs Open House and Café under new management
Change is in the air at Cumberland Lake Park Campground on Comox Lake. Historically run only as a campground, the newly formed Cumberland Lake Wilderness Society was granted the contract for operations in 2015, and this year the public may notice some changes. CLWS is a non-profit society and for the 2016 season has developed a variety of outdoor and wilderness-based programming as part of the services available to campers, community members and others visiting this unique wilderness area. There is also a new Café on site, offering a variety of quality choices.
The group would like to invite the public to their Programming Open House and Cafe Launch on Saturday, June 18th from 10:00 to 2:00, during which Outdoor Guides will be available to answer any questions about their upcoming summer programming. The event is free and will include: prizes and food sampling, nature crafts, a sandcastle competition (judged at 3pm), an archery demo, family wilderness games and more.
“We are ecstatic to be rolling out this amazing programing.” says Executive director Jamie Noakes. “Your support this summer will help the long term future of outdoor education at Cumberland Lake Park.”, adds Board member Will Kosloski. “As a non-profit Society, we want to create opportunities for everyone to be able to participate in wilderness learning and awareness.”
