Empire Day May Queen Party Selection

The application deadline for the 2015 May Queen Party is this coming Thursday Feb 19th! 127 years of fantastic outfits and ridiculously sweet photos of Cumberland youth.

Please share with any families that you think might want to be a part of this great Cumberland tradition.

The 2015 May Queen and her party will be chosen from the Cumberland Community School as follows:
May Queen – Grade 8 or 9
2 Attendants – Grade 6 or 7
2 Page Boys – Grade 1
1 Flower Girl – Kindergarten

Students wishing to be considered for these very special positions must:
– Attend specific events and activities throughout the year, including but not limited to the May Day, July 1st and BC Day Parades and visits to senior facilities in the Valley on those days.

A meeting is scheduled for Thursday February 19 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the Cumberland Village Council Chambers for receipt of this application & consideration of the applicants.

May Queen candidates should come prepared with a 3 minute speech expressing what it would mean to her to represent Cumberland as May Queen. If there is more than one applicant for the position selection will be based on this presentation. If there are more applicants than required for the other positions, selection will be made by a lottery format.

Families of the selected party will incur expenses. To help defer some of the expense, the Cumberland Empire Events Society will provide a stipend of $200 to the May Queen, $100 to the Attendants, Page Boys & Flower Girl.
If you wish to have your child considered for one of these positions, please submit a letter with the information below and bring it to the meeting with your child on February 19 at 6:00 p.m.
