Reel Youth Film Festival and Cumberland Community Schools Society Seek Local Youth Films – The submission deadline is Friday, February 9th, 2018.
The Reel Youth Film Festival (RYFF) in conjunction with the Cumberland Community Schools Society (CCSS) is once again seeking film submissions from local youth.
“Last year we were excited to have three local films included in the festival. We would love to top that this year. Our goal is to showcase as many local filmmakers as possible at our
screening,” said Kate Ashton, Program Coordinator for CCSS. “Please help us spread the word to as many youth filmmakers, and future filmmakers as possible. If you are looking for a winter
break activity, how about making a film?”
Each film should be between 3-5 minutes long, and be created by youth 19 and under.
Adult help is permitted, but must be disclosed on the submission form. Submission forms and more information can be found by emailing Kate Ashton at ccss.youthcoordinator@gmail.com.
The Reel Youth Film Festival is being hosted by Cumberland youth as a fundraiser for the CCSS Youth Centre. The film night will take place March 3rd, 2018 at the Cumberland
Community School.
The Reel Youth Film Festival is a non-profit whose mandate is to empower young voices through media arts. The RYFF has a yearly call for submissions and then their youth council
decides which films will become part of that years festival. The festival kicks off at the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) and then tours across the country with a stop in
Cumberland.
Local films submitted here will be shown at our film night and then forwarded to the RYFF Youth Council for application to the 2019 touring festival. To view last years films please go to http://reelyouth.ca/tour2016-17.html
Major sponsors of the festival include the Vancouver Foundation and Tides Canada Initiatives.
To become a local sponsor, please email Kate Ashton at ccss.youthcoordinator@gmail.com
