Cumberland Food Share

People in need food, or people who have food to give, can benefit from Cumberland’s new food share box at First and Penrith. An initiative between the Cumberland Community Schools Society and Weird Church of Cumberland, this always open, freely accessible pantry contains non-perishable food items for anyone who needs them. It’s like a little free library, but with food!

I walked over there today to find Vig putting the doors on. He reports he has often been there working on it and pick up and delivery at the pantry have been active. The pantry enables us to come together with these small acts of giving and taking to improve the quality of life in the Village for everyone.

Healthy Food boxes will also be delivered to vulnerable Cumberland Families during the Covid-19 crisis through the Food Share Program. The boxes will contain groceries, gift cards, and supplies. To register for this service, fill out the Cumberland Food Share Form.

This project is made possible with the support of Village of Cumberland, Lush Valley Food Action Society, and the Comox Valley Food Policy Council.
