Cumberland Disc Golf Course Grand Opening this Wednesday April 13th at 5:30pm!

Cumberland Council and the Comox Valley Disc Golf Club are excited to announce the grand opening of the new 18 hole Coal Creek Historic Park Disc Golf Course.

Everyone is welcome to join the celebration on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. at Hole #1. Cumberland Council entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Comox Valley Disc Golf Club in the summer of 2015 to work together on developing the course on a trial basis until the end of 2016. A course assessment and evaluation will take place in the fall of 2016 to identify any issues or concerns related to the operation of the course in the park.

The course is located just south of the historic Cumberland Chinatown site in Coal Creek Historic Park, which located 1 km west of the Village commercial core on Comox Lake Road. Hole #1 is located 300m south of the parking lot at Jumbo’s cabin parking area.

Parking is limited onsite and visitors are encouraged to walk, hike or bike to the park by way of Dunsmuir Avenue west (Camp Road), Porky’s Path off Sutton Road, Mama Bear’s Trail of Tears in the Cumberland Community Forest, or Comox Lake Road. A trail map can be viewed at Cumberland Recreation or can be purchased at local bike shops.

A limited number of rental discs are available at the Recreation Centre for anyone looking to try out the sport. Call Cumberland Recreation at 250-336-2231 for more information.
