Cumberland Boil Water Notice Lifted

Cumberland, BC – Testing on the Cumberland water system has concluded that there is no further risk to health and that the water is safe to drink.

Cumberland continues to work with Island Health on regular water system sampling and The Village thanks residents for your patience, cooperation and feedback.

Make sure that you flush your lines in your home properly and take your screens out of your taps and sterilize them too.

Here are the instructions from Island Health at www.viha.ca
After a Boil water Notice has been lifted

• Flush all water-using fixtures for 1 minute.
• Run cold-water faucets and drinking fountains for 1 minute before using the water.
• Drain and flush all ice-making machines in your refrigerator.
Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.
• Drain and refill hot water tanks set below 45 C (normal setting is 60 C).
